Polish Heritage Festival In Brenham

Polish Festival at St. Mary Catholic Church In Brenham

A large crowd of Polish Texans gathered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham Texas on Sunday, October 26, 2008 to celebrate the 18th annual Polish Heritage Festival.

As usual Michael Addicks and his kitchen crew served up one of the best Polish meals in Texas to the long line of diners. The meal consisted of smoked pork chops, kielbasa, sauerkraut, potatoes, green beans and pickles along with a choice of czarnina or rosol (duck or chicken soup). Ice tea and a delicious homemade desert rounded out the meal.

Food to go, including homemade pierogi, noodles and soups was sold out of the kitchen and the long line of people testified to the popularity of these traditional Polish dishes.

Inside the large parish hall there were grocery and cake booths and outside there was lots of fun activities for the kids including a Polish Turkey Shoot or Ustrzel Indyka.

Daniel Cendalski and his band, Dan and the Country Boys, entertained the crowd with a great mix of Polish and Country music. The auction drew a crowd and the bidding went on for several hours. There were lots of homemade goodies, quilts and other items up for bid

If you’ve never attended this event, make your plans now for next year. You sure won’t be disappointed.
