Lots of Fun For Labor Day Weekend

There are lots of events scheduled for the last holiday weekend of the summer, especially the Sunday before Labor Day. Several of these events relate to our Polish Texan heritage so it may be hard to decide which one to attend.

St. Stanislaus In Chappell Hill Bazaar

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar In Chappell Hill, TexasSt. Stanislaus Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas will be hosting their 72nd annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on the church grounds.

A barbeque brisket and sausage meal will be served starting at 11am. Activities inclued Arts and Crafts, Children’s Games, Country Store, Train Ride, Grocery, Toy, Cake, Ham and Sausage Booths. Bingo and the Grand Auction both start at 2pm and a dance featuring Daniel and the Country Boys begins at 6pm. At 8pm, the raffle winners will be drawn with a total of 25 great prizes.

St. Joseph In New Waverly Bazaar

St. Joseph's Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar in New Waverly, TexasSt. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas will be hosting their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on the church grounds. New Waverly has often been refered to as the cradle of Polish immigration for Southeast Texas.

Activities include a barbeque dinner, booths and games for adults and children, raffle, live auction and a dance.

St. Mary in Plantersville Bazaar

St. Mary Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar in Plantersville, TexasSt. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas will be hosting their 54th annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on the church grounds.

A delicious barbeque dinner will be served starting at 11am. There will be lots of fun for the whole family with grocery, cake, toy, fruit, plant and sausage booths, arts and crafts and children’s games. Bingo starts at noon in the parish hall and the live auction begins at 1:30pm in the large air conditioned tent. Chris Rybak, the Accordion Cowboy and his lovely wife Edita will be providing entertainment during the day and there will be an evening dance featuring Turkey and The Wranglers.

This popular bazaar is well worth the trip just for the tour of the beautifully restored German painted church.

Texas-Polish Music at Sengelmann Hall

TEXAS-POLISH, TEX-MEX and Louisiana Cajun Music at Sengelmann HallThere will be some really great TEXAS-POLISH, TEX-MEX and Louisiana Cajun Music at Sengelmann Hall in Schulenburg between 2 pm and 6pm on Sunday, September 6, 2009! If you haven’t been to the newly remodeled Sengelmann Hall, it’s definitely worth the trip, especially with this talented group of musicians playing in the upstairs dance hall.

Houston area, Texas-Polish fiddler Brian Marshall (Marszalek) joins button accordion, Chemnitzer concertina and trumpet player Bradley Jaye Williams (Szumila) for a “POLSKI DZEM SESSION” with members of The Gulf Coast Playboys as they perform polkas, obereks and Cajun two-steps and waltzes to keep the dancers on their toes.
