2010 Polish Heritage Festival At St. Mary In Brenham

2010 Polish Heritage Festival At St. Mary In Brenham, TexasPeople from all over Texas joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church as they hosted their 20th annual Polish Heritage Festival on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Parish Activity Center on the church grounds in Brenham, Texas. The hall filled up fast with diners who came for the delicious homemade Polish meal which included baked ham, kielbasa, rosol z kury, czarnina, sauerkraut, potatoes and green beans along with delicious desserts and ice tea, soft drinks and cold piwo to drink.

A long line formed at the kitchen where take home food to go was available, including popular traditional Polish dishes such as pierogi, kiska, kielbasa and soups. Inside the large hall there was a grocery booth, cake booth and a country store and outside there were lots of fun activities for the kids.

Daniel Cendalski and his band, Daniel and the Country Boys, entertained the crowd with a mix of old time Polish and Country music. The live auction drew a crowd and the bidding went on for several hours. There were lots of homemade goodies, quilts and other items up for bid, including an Italian creme cake baked by Fr. Ivey which drew a spirited bidding war. The raffle drawing with lots of nice prizes was held late in the afternoon.
