James Smock

James SmockJames Smock has always held an interest in his Polish ancestors and heritage. He is a native Houstonian with Polish roots in Bremond, Marlin and New Waverly, Texas.

James is a past president of the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas and was the founding webmaster of the PGST website. He also served as the Surname Index Coordinator from 1994 - 2000.

With a lifelong passion for photography, James can often be found with a camera around his neck. In addition to photographing family events and his grandchildren, he is the church photographer for St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. 2014 St. Joseph Catholic Church In Stoneham Texas Annual BazaarOn Sunday, May 26, 2013, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stoneham, Texas held their annual homecoming bazaar to celebrate the 115th year of the founding of the historic parish. St. Joseph’s was established in 1909 by a group of Polish-speaking immigrants from the Grimes Prairie, Stoneham and Plantersville areas. This year’s bazaar started with a special Mass celebrated by Fr. Bill Kelly at 10:30 am in the beautiful old church. At 11:00 am, workers started serving a delicious barbecue pork and beef dinner with all the fixings including a wide array of homemade deserts and cold ice tea.

2014 St. Joseph In Stoneham Texas BazaarSt. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stoneham, Texas will be hosting their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, May 25, 2014 on the church grounds. St. Joseph Catholic Church was established in 1909 by a group of Polish-speaking immigrants from the Grimes Prairie, Stoneham and Plantersville areas.

Activities include a delicious barbecue dinner, booths and games for adults and children, raffle, live auction and live country and Polish music by Bill Mock and the Hwy 105 Band and Brian Marshall and friends.

2014 Eighth Annual Polish Festival In Houston TexasBeautiful spring weather welcomed a large crowd of visitors to Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church as the parish held their 8th annual Polish Festival on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2014. The festival was held on the church grounds in the Spring Branch area of Houston. The festival opened on Saturday morning with music by DJ Chris Piorkowski and singing by Edward Winiarski, followed by a rousing performance of Polish folk dancing by Houston’s own Wawel Dance Group.
