St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar In Anderson, TexasSt. Stanislaus Catholic Church will be hosting their 54th annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, October 11, 2009 on the church grounds in Anderson, Texas. This year’s event will begin with a Ceremonial Ground Breaking for the new Parish Hall at 10:30am. Delicious barbecue brisket and sausage with all the fixings, home made deserts and ice tea will be served starting at 11am. There will be lots of booths for the adults as well as games and activities for the kids, a live auction and some really nice raffle prizes.

For the 21st consecutive year, Brian Marshall and friends will entertain the crowd with lots of good Polish music. As always, it will be well worth the trip to Anderson just for the music.

Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church will host back-to-back ethnic festivals on Saturday and Sunday. Dożynki – Polish Harvest Festival will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009, from 10 am – 10pm and the 46th annual St. Cyril & Methodius Slavic Heritage Festival will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 10am – 6pm. There are lots of events scheduled for the last holiday weekend of the summer, especially the Sunday before Labor Day. Several of these events relate to our Polish Texan heritage so it may be hard to decide which one to attend.

St. Stanislaus In Chappell Hill Bazaar

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar In Chappell Hill, TexasSt. Stanislaus Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas will be hosting their 72nd annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on the church grounds.

A barbeque brisket and sausage meal will be served starting at 11am. Activities inclued Arts and Crafts, Children’s Games, Country Store, Train Ride, Grocery, Toy, Cake, Ham and Sausage Booths. Bingo and the Grand Auction both start at 2pm and a dance featuring Daniel and the Country Boys begins at 6pm. At 8pm, the raffle winners will be drawn with a total of 25 great prizes.

St. Joseph In New Waverly Bazaar

St. Joseph's Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar in New Waverly, TexasSt. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas will be hosting their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on the church grounds. New Waverly has often been refered to as the cradle of Polish immigration for Southeast Texas.

Activities include a barbeque dinner, booths and games for adults and children, raffle, live auction and a dance.

St. Mary in Plantersville Bazaar

St. Mary Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar in Plantersville, TexasSt. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas will be hosting their 54th annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, September 6, 2009 on the church grounds.

A delicious barbeque dinner will be served starting at 11am. There will be lots of fun for the whole family with grocery, cake, toy, fruit, plant and sausage booths, arts and crafts and children’s games. Bingo starts at noon in the parish hall and the live auction begins at 1:30pm in the large air conditioned tent. Chris Rybak, the Accordion Cowboy and his lovely wife Edita will be providing entertainment during the day and there will be an evening dance featuring Turkey and The Wranglers.

This popular bazaar is well worth the trip just for the tour of the beautifully restored German painted church.

Texas-Polish Music at Sengelmann Hall

TEXAS-POLISH, TEX-MEX and Louisiana Cajun Music at Sengelmann HallThere will be some really great TEXAS-POLISH, TEX-MEX and Louisiana Cajun Music at Sengelmann Hall in Schulenburg between 2 pm and 6pm on Sunday, September 6, 2009! If you haven’t been to the newly remodeled Sengelmann Hall, it’s definitely worth the trip, especially with this talented group of musicians playing in the upstairs dance hall.

Houston area, Texas-Polish fiddler Brian Marshall (Marszalek) joins button accordion, Chemnitzer concertina and trumpet player Bradley Jaye Williams (Szumila) for a “POLSKI DZEM SESSION” with members of The Gulf Coast Playboys as they perform polkas, obereks and Cajun two-steps and waltzes to keep the dancers on their toes.

We are having “Polski Noc” Polish Night at our house on Saturday, August 1 at around 6:30 p.m. till 11:30 p.m. We are located at 5525 FM 1179 Bryan, Texas 77808. We are having this to honor my friend Bernie Kroll and to celebrate our Polish heritage. Bernie has just finished his second tour of duty in Iraq and is coming down to Texas from Green Bay, Wisconsin to visit for a short vacation.  Bernie and I met 32 years ago when I was a USDA Meat Grader in one of the packing plants. Bernie, his wife Sandy, his son Jerome and his mother-in-law are coming to Texas for a 4 day trip. We thought it would be appropriate to have a party and celebrate Bernie’s service to our country and our Polish Heritage!

2008 Bremond Polski Dzien

The Bremond Chamber of Commerce recently finalized their plans for the Polski Dzien XXII or the Polish Days celebration. The Polish Pickle Run is expected to draw another good crowd. Over 165 runners have pre registered by Wednesday (June 17). The 5K run begins at 8:00 am. The 2009 Pickle Run T-shirts will be available starting on Saturday (June 20) at the Bremond Press office. More colors of shirts will be available to the early shirt buyers. This year there will be a limited number of Tye Dye Polish Pickle Run shirts.

The horseshoe and washer competition will take place under the water tower as it has in recent years. The new city building has taken up some of the area but there is still enough room for the two popular Polish Day games. Sign-up will be in Wasik’s store on Polish Day morning. The deadline for washers is 11:00 and horseshoes at 11:30. Play begins thirty minutes after sign-up ends. The entry fee is $20 per team. For information call Janel Swick at 254-746-7552.

Houston Texas Polish Festival - Our Lady Of Czestochowa ChurchHouston’s 3rd Annual Polish Festival is a celebration of all things Polish – the food, the music, the language, the customs and the culture of the Polish people. The Festival is held on the grounds of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church conveniently located at 1731 Blalock Drive, in the Spring Branch area, about 1.5 miles north of the Katy Freeway. The festival will run from 10:00 am to 10:30 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

Featured at the Festival is a large sampling of traditional Polish foods such as pierogi (stuffed dumplings), golabki (cabbage rolls), bigos (hunters stew) and kielbasa (sausage) and a huge assortment of traditional cakes, rolls and desserts lovingly prepared by the parishioners of Our Lady Of Czestochowa Catholic Church. There will be plenty of ice cold beverages to go along with the food.

Singers and musicians from the internationally known folk group, "Slask" of Silesia, Poland will perform in South Texas December 22-29, 2008. The group has been called, "one of the grandest and most dazzling spectacles in the world."
