2011 Waltz To Westphalia Premier And Polka Bash In Bremond TexasIt was a bit unusual to see so many vehicles parked on Main Street in downtown Bremond Texas on Saturday evening, November 5, 2011. The crowd had gathered in the Texas Slav & German Warehouse for a premier showing of “The Waltz To Westphalia”, a documentary film produced by Joe Weed. Chappell Hill Texas Celebrates Polish American Heritage Month With Daniel CendalskiChappell Hill Texas derives a lot of history and heritage from its early Polish settlers and since October is Polish American Heritage month in the United States, it was not surprising that the meeting room in the museum was decorated in Polish style for the membership meeting of the Chappell Hill Historical Society on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. There were several display cases containing some of Larry Gurka’s extensive collection of beautiful Polish folk dolls and a lot of framed photos of last years kolędy celebration that was held the day after Christmas.

2011 Polish Heritage Festival At St. Mary In Brenham, TexasOn Sunday, October 23, 2011 St. Mary’s Catholic Church hosted their 21st annual Polish Heritage Festival at the Parish Activity Center on the church grounds in Brenham, Texas. At 11 am, the diners lined up to fill their plates with delicious Polish food which included baked ham, kielbasa, rosół z kury, czarnina, sauerkraut, potatoes and green beans along with delicious desserts and ice tea, soft drinks and cold piwo to drink.

2011 St. Mary Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar In Bremond, TexasIt was a beautiful fall day with blue skies and warm temperatures on Sunday, October 16. 2011 as a large crowd of people with Polish roots in Robertson and Falls county came together to celebrate St. Mary’s Catholic Church annual homecoming bazaar. A delicious barbecue brisket and sausage dinner with all of the trimmings including homemade desserts and ice tea was served beginning at 11:00 am and the large parish hall soon filled up with diners. Beef, sausage and chicken by the pound for take home was available outside at the barbecue pits.

57th Annual St. Stanislaus Catholic Church In Anderson Texas Homecoming and BazaarIt’s been a long time since Anderson Texas has received any significant amount of rain but on Sunday, October 9, 2011, the day of St. Stanislaus Catholic Churches 57th annual homecoming bazaar, the skies opened up and the rain continued for much of the day. The good soaking rain was a welcome sight and it didn’t stop the die-hard bazaar fans from having a good time. The day began with a Holy Mass celebrated by pastor Fr. JoJo Cal-Ortiz and a blessing in the parish hall.

2011 Houston Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slavic Heritage FestivalThe 48th Annual St. Cyril and Methodius Slavic Heritage Festival was held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on E. Whitney in Houston. The morning began with a traditional Slavic Mass honoring Sts. Cyril and Methodius. At noon, there was a welcoming ceremony for the Slavic Communities of Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Croatia along with the singing of the United States and each participating countries national anthems.
