St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stoneham, Texas will be hosting their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, May 27, 2012 on the church grounds. St. Joseph Catholic Church was established in 1909 by a group of Polish-speaking immigrants from the Grimes Prairie, Stoneham and Plantersville areas.

Activities include a delicious barbecue dinner, booths and games for adults and children, raffle, live auction and live music.

Sixth Annual Houston Polish Festival Held On May 5 – 6

Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church held their 6th annual Polish Festival on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2012 on the church grounds in the Spring Branch area of Houston. The weather was hot and sunny and a large crowd showed up on both Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the delicious food, cold piwo and great entertainment. The festival opened on Saturday morning at 10:00 am with a presentation of the American, Polish and Texas flags and singing of the national anthems of the United States and Poland.

Johnny Patke, owner of Parts Unlimited in Pearland is no stanger to charity events. He can often be found bidding on high dollar items at various charity auctions, but on April 28, 2012, Johnny put his body on the line to help a Waller County charity raise money. Parts Unlimited brought two cars and a truck to the White Dove of Hope Demolition Derby at the Chad Treichel Memorial Arena in the Field Store community.

Houston Polish Festival To Be Held On May 5th – 6th

Houston’s 6th Annual Polish Festival will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The festival is a celebration of all things Polish – the food, the music, the language, the customs and the culture of the Polish people and will be held on the grounds of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church conveniently located at 1731 Blalock Drive, in the Spring Branch area of Houston, about 1.5 miles north of the Katy Freeway.

Employees of The Polish Food Store in Houston worked all night Wednesday making hundreds of delicious pączki to celebrate Tłusty Czwartek or Fat Thursday which is a traditional Polish feast marking the last Thursday before Lent. It is somewhat similar to the French festival of Mardi Gras which is celebrated on Fat Tuesday.

Polish Christmas Carol Concert At St. Stanislaus In Chappell Hill

In these modern times, many people have forgotten that the traditional Christmas season lasts for 40 days, from Christmas Day until Candlemas or the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The parishioners of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill Texas were reminded of this tradition on Sunday, January 22, 2012 by a beautiful kolędy concert held in the church. Kolednicy z Houston or Christmas Carolers from Our Lady Of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Houston arrived in Chappell Hill for the 9 am Mass.
