James Smock

James SmockJames Smock has always held an interest in his Polish ancestors and heritage. He is a native Houstonian with Polish roots in Bremond, Marlin and New Waverly, Texas.

James is a past president of the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas and was the founding webmaster of the PGST website. He also served as the Surname Index Coordinator from 1994 - 2000.

With a lifelong passion for photography, James can often be found with a camera around his neck. In addition to photographing family events and his grandchildren, he is the church photographer for St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. 2009 Polish Heritage Festival In Brenham

2009 St. Mary In Brenham Texas Polish Heritage FestivalA large crowd of people with Polish roots gathered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham Texas on Sunday, October 25, 2009 to celebrate the 19th annual Polish Heritage Festival. The hardworking kitchen crew served up a delicious home style Polish meal to the long line of diners. The meal consisted of smoked ham, kielbasa, sauerkraut, potatoes, green beans and pickles along with a choice of czarnina or rosol (duck or chicken soup). Ice tea and a choice between dozens of delicious homemade deserts rounded out the meal.

19th Annual Polish Heritage Festival To Be Held In Brenham

2009 St. Mary In Brenham Texas 19th Annual Polish Heritage FestivalSt. Mary Catholic church in Brenham will host its 19th annual Polish Heritage Festival on Sunday October 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Parish Activity Center at the corner of Germania and South Park.

A delicious home cooked Polish meal will be served with meal tickets available at the door. Music will be provided by Daniel and the Country Boys. Other activities include a live auction, raffle, cake booth, grocery booth and children’s games.

Come on out to Brenham and join in on the fun.

Beautiful Day For Bremond’s 2009 Bazaar

2009 St. Mary In Bremond Texas BazaarA beautiful blue sky and cool, comfortable temperatures…you really couldn’t ask for better weather as St. Mary’s Catholic Church held their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the church grounds in Bremond, Texas. The large crowd, many of whom have Polish roots in Robertson and Falls county, obviously enjoyed the day.

The Fabulous Polkasonics at Wahlburg RestaurantYou’d normally expect to find German music at a German restaurant, especially during the Oktoberfest celebration, but on Friday night, October 16, 2009, patrons of the Walhburg Restaurant in the little town of Wahlburg, Texas were treated to a fun evening of traditional old time Polish polka, waltz and oberek music. 2009 St. Mary Homecoming Bazaar In Bremond

St. Mary Bazaar - Bremond, Texas

St. Mary Catholic Church will be hosting their Annual Homecoming Bazaar and Fall Festival at the parish grounds in Bremond, Texas on Sunday, October 18, 2009. A delicious dinner which includes Polish sausage, barbecued brisket and all the fixings will be served from 11:30 am until 3:00 pm. There will also be barbecued beef, sausage and chicken available by the pound at the pits.

The big auction starts at 1:00 pm and will include livestock as well as many homemade and craft items. Cold drinks and fun games for kids of all ages are available all day. There will be bingo from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Raffle drawings will be at 8:00 pm.
