James Smock

James SmockJames Smock has always held an interest in his Polish ancestors and heritage. He is a native Houstonian with Polish roots in Bremond, Marlin and New Waverly, Texas.

James is a past president of the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas and was the founding webmaster of the PGST website. He also served as the Surname Index Coordinator from 1994 - 2000.

With a lifelong passion for photography, James can often be found with a camera around his neck. In addition to photographing family events and his grandchildren, he is the church photographer for St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. 2010 Polish Genealogical Society of Texas Annual SocialThe Polish Genealogical Society of Texas will hold their annual social on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Tracy Gee Community Center, 3509 Westcenter Drive, Houston Texas.

Guest Speaker Susan Bulgawicz, Atty, will present a program on Elder Law – What important documents do I need now? Members and guests are invited to share in a delicious meal and fellowship with friends. Meat dishes will be provided by the Society and participants are asked to bring your favorite covered dish, salad, vegetable or dessert to share with others.

2010 Polish Heritage Festival At St. Mary In Brenham, TexasPeople from all over Texas joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church as they hosted their 20th annual Polish Heritage Festival on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Parish Activity Center on the church grounds in Brenham, Texas. The hall filled up fast with diners who came for the delicious homemade Polish meal which included baked ham, kielbasa, rosol z kury, czarnina, sauerkraut, potatoes and green beans along with delicious desserts and ice tea, soft drinks and cold piwo to drink.

2010 St. Mary In Bremond Annual Homecoming Bazaar

2010 St. Mary Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar In Bremond, Texas

A large crowd of people with Polish roots in Robertson and Falls county enjoyed a beautiful blue sky and comfortable temperatures as St. Mary’s Catholic Church held their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the church grounds in Bremond, Texas. A delicious barbecue beef and sausage dinner with all of the trimmings including homemade desserts and ice tea was served beginning at 11:30 am and it didn’t take long for the large parish hall to fill up with diners. Beef and chicken by the pound for take home was available outside at the barbecue pits.

2010 St. Mary Catholic Church Homecoming Bazaar In Bremond, TexasSt. Mary Catholic Church will be hosting their annual homecoming bazaar on Sunday, October 17, 2010 on the church grounds in Bremond, Texas. A delicious barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served at 11 a.m and chicken and sausage will be available by the pound at the pits. Have lots of fun with Plant Wheel, Toy Wheel, Country Store, Face Painting, Sno Cones, Arts & Crafts, Coke Toss, Hay Ride, Obstacle Course, Sandwich & Funnel Cakes Booth. There will be three raffles with lots of nice prizes and the big livestock & miscellaneous auctions.

2010 St. Stanislaus In Anderson Homecoming Bazaar

56th Annual St. Stanislaus Catholic Church In Anderson Texas Homecoming and BazaarThe good Lord blessed Texas with beautiful blue skies and pleasant temperatures on Sunday, October 10, 2010 as a large crowd descended on St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson for their 56th Annual Homecoming and Bazaar. The day began with a Holy Mass that was co-celebrated by Fr. JoJo Cal-Ortiz and three priests with deep roots in the St. Stanislaus community, Msgr. Chester Borski, Msgr. Adam McClosky and Fr. Louis Sikorski. At the end of the Mass, Msgr. Borski blessed the new historical museum at the back of the church.
